Social affairs, youth and health
Our goals:
- Creating a "barrier-free Mainz."
- Being able to approach one another, meet without barriers, and move around without fear through "barrier-free" thinking, planning, living, and creating open spaces for people in Mainz.
- Promoting a social and fair Mainz.
- Creating equal opportunities for all people living in Mainz in order to meet the needs of individuals and prevent exclusion or discrimination based on gender, age, disability, ethnic or religious affiliation, unemployment, or poverty.
- Ensuring the provision of adequate housing for all people living in Mainz.
- Guaranteeing education and training as well as work and a secure livelihood for everyone living in Mainz.
- Implement gender equality by abolishing the gender hierarchy and gender-specific unequal treatment in the public sphere and promote it in private life.
- Reduce and outlaw violence between people, especially against women and children, guarantee free victim assistance, and strengthen prevention and offers for awareness and behavioral change among perpetrators.
- Promote cooperation between social groups and organizations as well as committed individuals to maintain solidarity and social justice and further develop the good social climate in Mainz.
- Offer a future to an "intercultural Mainz."
- Promote intercultural openness and competence, reaching out to one another and living together.
- Arouse and develop interest in other cultures and promote mutual respect between different cultures.
- Promote equality for people who come to Mainz from cultures that are foreign to us by reducing discrimination and through measures to promote understanding and consideration for cultural differences.
- Develop Mainz into a city that is child-, youth-, and family-friendly.
- Supporting an open, committed, critical, and capable young generation at an early stage in their own life orientation and in a democratic, equal society with public funds and services.
- Offer children and young people more play areas close to home, create places where they can meet to learn how to cope with life together, and leave room for the new, the different, the paradoxical nature of youth.
- Enable children and young people to participate in their living environment in a way that is appropriate to their development; awaken their interests, train their awareness of their own lives and our world, and challenge and encourage their creativity and participation.
