About the exhibition

In the 19th century, British book artist William Morris (1834-1896) created unique monuments to the art of bookmaking in his private printing press, Kelmscott Press. One very special book is the Kelmscott Chaucer, an edition of the complete works of the late medieval author Geoffrey Chaucer (c. 1342/43-1400), artfully decorated with numerous ornaments. These and other extraordinary books from Kelmscott Press are on display in the exhibition.
