Theme year 2020: Man and truth

During the “Humans and Truth” theme year, various academic disciplines explored questions such as: How are concepts like truth and reality defined in the first place? And how do they differ across different eras and cultures? For example, how do neuroscience, psychology, and other sciences attempt to get to the bottom of what we perceive as reality or truth? Is there even such a thing as objective truth?

During the theme year, you had the opportunity to learn about the research projects being conducted by Mainz’s many scientific institutions in this field. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many events had to be adapted and took place virtually or on a smaller scale outdoors, as part of the “Mainz lebt auf seinen Plätzen” event on the Mainz Rhine waterfront.
