Global PHP Security Vulnerability: Government Offices Remain Accessible—Scheduled Appointments Will Take Place.
Due to a global security vulnerability in the PHP programming language, the state capital of Mainz has taken several municipal web services offline as a precautionary measure following a warning from the federal government (Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)). This particularly affects the city’s website at www.mainz.de, which is currently unavailable.
City administration offices are not affected by the shutdown. Appointments that have already been scheduled can proceed as planned. The city administration can still be reached by phone, email, and through its social media channels.
The state capital of Mainz and its municipal agency, the Municipal Data Center (KDZ), are working to restore the affected internet services as quickly as possible. At this time, it is not yet possible to estimate when this will be possible.
As soon as new, confirmed information becomes available, the state capital of Mainz will provide updates on further developments.
