The association serves to cultivate and disseminate popular astronomy and to
promote amateur astronomy in Mainz and the surrounding area. In particular, the association
pursues the following objectives:

• It supports its members in the field of astronomical knowledge.
• It advises and assists its members in setting up and operating astronomical facilities and equipment.
• It disseminates astronomical knowledge in word and writing.
• It seeks to stimulate general interest in the natural sciences.
• It advocates for the introduction of astronomy lessons in schools and aims to inspire young people in particular to take an interest in the natural sciences and to encourage them in this interest.
