Friends of the Reading Foundation

Purpose of the association

For over 30 years, Stiftung Lesen (Reading Foundation) has been committed to encouraging people to read. Children and young people are particularly important to the foundation. Their future opportunities depend on whether they can gain access to education as skilled readers in order to take their place in our society. Now more than ever, we all need the knowledge and ingenuity of each and every individual. At the same time, people have never been more dependent on education to avoid being left behind.

That is why our circle of friends supports the Stiftung Lesen in promoting voluntary reading aloud in Germany: the cornerstone of successful reading careers and educational paths. We are convinced that every contribution is worthwhile for equal and opportunity-rich participation in society, which is hardly possible without the ability to read.
