Initiative Zitadelle Mainz e.V.

Purpose of the association

The purpose of the association is to preserve the historic "Citadel" fortifications in Mainz. In particular, the association promotes the restoration of the fortification walls, moats, and ramparts, the removal of vegetation that is damaging the masonry, and the creation of green spaces that offer views of the city of Mainz. The citadel and the rest of the Jackobsberg area are to be further developed as a local recreation area and tourist attraction.
