The Rhineland-Palatinate County Council has, among other things, the task of

• safeguarding the legal status and self-administration of the districts within the framework of the free, democratic basic order of the federal and state governments and promoting their development
• representing the common interests of the counties in Rhineland-Palatinate and its other members vis-à-vis the state parliament and state government
• to facilitate the exchange of experience among its members and to advise them
• to inform the public about the tasks, institutions, and problems of the districts
• and to represent the Rhineland-Palatinate districts in the German County Council.
