Meenzer Leisetreter e.V.

Purpose of the association

The Meenzer Leisetreter association aims to bring disabled people out of isolation and loneliness and integrate them into society.

The members of the association plan all kinds of events in the association's premises (general meetings, senior citizens' meetings, craft afternoons). Day and half-day excursions, leisure activities, visits to cultural events, craft and games afternoons are organized. Twice a month, bowling takes place in the community center in Mainz-Lerchenberg.

The members of the association receive assistance in word and deed, including with visits to government offices and the like. Since 1988, the association has owned a minibus equipped for disabled people with an automatic lifting platform for wheelchair users.

"Everyone needs help and everyone can help" – that was the motto 23 years ago when the association was founded by a group of friends. No one can do everything on their own; everyone is more or less dependent on others. But everyone also contributes their own skills.

Anyone can join the "Meenzer Leisetreter" association, whether old or young, with or without disabilities. The association does a lot, but there isn't always a program; there is also time for each other, sometimes just listening – we are there for each other!
