PRO RETINA Deutschland e.V., Regional Group Mainz

Purpose of the association

People with retinal disorders, such as retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and rarer forms of retinal degeneration, have come together to form the self-help association PRO RETINA Deutschland e. V.

PRO RETINA offers its members telephone counseling on disease-specific questions, assistive devices, mobility, psychological support, and social welfare law. PRO RETINA has trained counselors available for these topics.

The trained members of the Mainz regional group serve on a volunteer basis on various disability advisory boards throughout the state. There, we advocate for the interests of blind and visually impaired people to ensure that guidelines (e.g., DIN 32 9 84:2011-10) are followed and implemented.

PRO RETINA is a self-help organization; everyone has the opportunity to get actively involved.

The service area of our self-help group, the Mainz Regional Group, for people with retinal degeneration covers the Mainz region, including Rheinhessen, Kaiserslautern, Speyer, and the Palatinate, as well as Bad Kreuznach and the Nahe region.

Our self-help group is, of course, also open to new members, those seeking advice, and anyone interested.
