According to the statutes, the following objectives are pursued:

• the further development and distribution of the freely copyable Gentoo Linux distribution
• Presentation of the Gentoo Linux project through public meetings and information events
• the organization and implementation of trade fair appearances
• organizing and/or promoting scientific congresses, meetings, and conferences
• Supporting members and non-members in the creation and use of free software
• Public relations work using all media
• Cooperation and exchange with national and international groups whose goals are compatible with those of the association.
