A more professional structure for school rowing clubs will bring the competitive aspect of the sport more clearly to the fore. The young athletes, who will be scouted in schools with much greater involvement from MRV coaches than before, will not only learn how to row, but also receive structured training and gain their first regatta experience.

These activities will be bundled under the umbrella of the Mainz School Rowing Center, to which the SRRs will bring their athletes as members, but which will also be open to students from other schools without their own rowing clubs. The independent club structure will enable rowers from individual schools to form starting communities for regattas that go beyond the current level and will clearly distinguish these activities from those of the MRV in the youth and junior sectors.
