The municipal/district/city administration maintains a register of eligible voters for each voting district, known as the voter registry. You may only vote in the state election if you are listed in the voter registry. As an eligible voter, you will be automatically entered into the voter registry if you are registered with the registration office by the 42nd day before the election.
The municipal/district/city administration will inform you about the state election no later than 21 days before the election via a written election notice. If you have not received an election notice by the 21st day before the election, you should immediately contact your local municipal/district/city administration to verify whether you are listed in the voter registry. If you are not listed in the voter registry, it is recommended that you request clarification. If you believe the voter registry is incorrect or incomplete, you may file an objection to the voter registry no later than the 16th day before the election.
If, as a person eligible to vote, you change your primary residence within Rhineland-Palatinate after the 42nd day before the election and no later than the 21st day before the election, you will be informed upon registration of the possibility of applying for entry in the voter registry of your new place of residence.
Similarly, if you are homeless in Germany but otherwise habitually reside in Rhineland-Palatinate, you may apply for inclusion in the voter registry.
You will be added to the voter registry upon request if you are eligible to vote
