All citizens who are generally members of a carnival club or carnival guard can receive an award from the city. Applications for the award of a city medal are submitted by the chairpersons/presidents of the relevant club. The Mainz districts on the other side of the Rhine (Amöneburg, Kastel, and Kostheim) are also included.
Once the application has been received, the protocol is reviewed, the applicants are informed of the result, and the award ceremony is organized.
We award only one city medal per campaign per association or guard. In the case of municipal carnival anniversaries (11, 25, 33, 44, 50, 55, 75, 100, 111, 121, 125, 150, 175 years), up to two medals may be awarded.
Defective city medals that are no more than two years old can be handed over to the protocol office for repair. After that, you are responsible for repairing the medal yourself. If the medal is lost, the protocol office will procure a replacement. To do this, you must present the certificate. We will charge you the replacement at cost price.
