The concept
The state capital of Mainz has expanded its support for childcare places. This concept, called "ChiK – Equal Opportunities," is an important childcare service that guarantees childcare providers financial security and a secure start in childcare.
Through the childcare places offered, daycare providers receive a lump sum payment based on the approved, agreed childcare hours in the childcare contract. The state capital of Mainz takes care of arranging the childcare placements within the framework of a so-called right of placement.
What are reserved places?
By offering reserved places, daycare providers make available a number of daycare places agreed with the state capital of Mainz, which can then be arranged. The arrangement is made by the Office for Youth and Family Affairs. This means that the daycare provider does not have to worry about filling the vacant places themselves. In their capacity as contractors, daycare providers continue to work independently or on a freelance basis and pursue an educational concept for early childhood education and care. The daycare provider determines the opening hours for the daycare center themselves, and the care contracts are concluded between the parents and the caregiver. The Office for Youth and Family supports the daycare providers in fulfilling their educational and care responsibilities by providing professional advice and support.
