People who are unable to support themselves financially and do not receive assistance from third parties receive help from the social services office.

For people who are no longer able to run their own households, this includes support from a care service or a private individual.

We provide assistance in the form of:

• Benefits in kind (payment of the invoice from the care service or private individual)
• Cash benefits

Before submitting your first application

Please contact one of the care support centers in the state capital of Mainz or the social services department of the Office for Social Services.

The following people are eligible:

• People who, due to illness, disability, or similar limitations, are no longer able to perform the above-mentioned activities themselves.
• People who are unable to help themselves financially and are not supported by third-party benefits.

These benefits are means-tested and depend on income and assets.
