Mainzer Weinfrühstück

Every year on Saturdays from March to November, the Mainz Wine Breakfast, organized by the Mainz winegrowers, attracts many people of all generations to the city centre and is now known far beyond the borders of the state capital. Taste the wines every Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.

Enjoy Mainz wines directly from the producer - in the heart of the city, at one of the most beautiful weekly markets in Germany: you can do all this at the Mainz Wine Breakfast.

Whether Riesling, Silvaner or Pinot Noir: try wines from the Mainz winegrowers who take turns serving them.

But what would a breakfast be, especially a Mainz breakfast, without the accompaniments of Weck and Worscht (bread rolls and sausage), which you can get right next door at one of the many butchers' stalls? And as the people of Mainz are sociable contemporaries, it goes without saying that a long chat is also part of the experience.

When and where?

The Mainz Wine Breakfast will take place again from March 15, always on Saturdays, at three locations:

  • Tritonplatz, Leichhof and Rheinufer am Fischtorplatz - the wine breakfast starts on March 15, 2025

In the first few weeks, the three wine stands will be open from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Please note: the supply stands at the weekly market close at 2.00 pm.

Wine stand on the banks of the Rhine

In addition, the Mainz winegrowers will once again provide you with chilled wine, water or grape juice at Fischtorplatz. With the best view of the Rhine, the wine stand is open on Saturdays from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm and on Sundays from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Short and to the point

Both the Mainz market breakfast and the wine stand on the banks of the Rhine are very popular. The state capital of Mainz and the Mainz winegrowers urge you to observe a few basic rules.

To ensure that the original idea - to stock up on regional delicacies at the Mainz weekly market on Saturdays and enjoy them together - is not lost, please

  • keep the passageways and escape routes clear and pay attention to the instructions of the stewards assigned for this purpose.
  • show consideration for neighboring businesses and keep the entrances to the business premises clear.
  • Pay attention to cleanliness in the green areas and on the banks of the Rhine - your garbage belongs in the bins provided or you can simply take it home with you.
  • Return wine bottles and glasses to the wine stand in exchange for a deposit.
  • Use the official toilets! Please look for the signs at the wine stand and on the banks of the Rhine.

Help to preserve the original cozy character of the Mainz Wine Breakfast!

Public toilets

Public toilets are located in Heugasse, on the Rhine (near the town hall) and on the market square underneath the Buttler shoe store. Additional mobile toilets will be set up on the banks of the Rhine and on Bischofsplatz. At Tritonplatz, the toilets in the Kleines Haus of the Staatstheater can be used. There will be signs at all locations.
