Self-protection & prevention
Crises and dangerous situations can occur at any time. These include, for example, severe weather, major fires, prolonged power outages, or accidents involving hazardous materials.
Depending on the situation, it may take a little longer for help to arrive on the scene. That’s why it’s a good idea to prepare for potential emergencies and keep a few essential items on hand at home.
Be Prepared for Emergencies
We recommend stocking up on supplies for at least three days. This includes, for example:
- Drinking water (2 liters per person per day)
- non-perishable food
- Hygiene supplies
- essential medications
- Flashlight
- Charged power bank and batteries
- A battery-powered or hand-crank radio
- Camping stove (Grills must not be used for heating or cooking food in enclosed spaces. Serious risk of poisoning!)
Also remember to pack items that you or your family need on a regular basis, such as baby food, assistive devices, or pet food.
Stay Informed
In an emergency, it's important to receive alerts and up-to-date information. Therefore, find out how you will be alerted in your area and where you can find reliable information.
