The Mainz Fire Department was called to a traffic accident involving a car and a truck on the BAB 643 highway in the direction of Wiesbaden today.
A truck had collided with a car on the Schiersteiner Bridge. There was one person in each vehicle.
When the fire department arrived, the driver of the car was sitting in her vehicle with injuries. She received first aid from the fire department until the ambulance service arrived. After receiving first aid, she was carefully freed from the car by the fire department and ambulance service due to her injuries. The driver of the truck was also injured and was treated by the ambulance service.
Fortunately, the injured driver of the car was able to make an emergency call. Despite the heavy traffic, there were no first responders to take care of the two injured people, nor were there any callers who dialed the emergency number. Since the exact location of the accident was initially unclear, additional callers could have provided important information to the emergency services.
The Mombach Volunteer Fire Department was alerted together with the Mainz Professional Fire Department. Shortly after the Mombach colleagues returned to the fire station, they witnessed another traffic accident between a car and a cyclist. The accident occurred at the intersection of Kreuzstraße and Am Lemmchen. The cyclist was given first aid by the Mombach fire department until the ambulance service arrived. In addition, the accident site was secured.
Sixteen members of the Mainz fire department were on duty on the Schiersteiner Bridge, along with an ambulance from Wiesbaden, an ambulance and an emergency doctor from Mainz, and the police from Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate.
In Mombach, six firefighters, an ambulance, an emergency doctor, and the police were on site.
