Public holiday regulation (Gutenberg-Museum)

The museum is open on all public holidays except 24 and 25 December, 31 December and 1 January.
The museum is also closed during Carnival (Saturday to Tuesday). In 2025, this is the period from 1 to 4 March 2025.

Travelling via Public Transportation

Take the buses of the Public transportation to the stop "Höfchen" or "Fischtor". From the stops it is an approximately 7-minute walk to the museum.

Parking at a fee is available in the parking garages "Am Brand" and "Rathaus-Rheingoldhalle".

Animals

Animals are not allowed in the museum. This rule does not apply to certified seeing-eye and assistance dogs. Thank you for your understanding.

Baby Carriages

A visit to the Gutenberg Museum is possible for visitors with baby carriages.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms are located on the ground floor of the museum and in the black pavillons of the Gutenberg Shop on the musem square.

The Gutenberg Museum offers a diverse program of events that can be found in our Calendar of events. Regular events such as our hourly print demonstrations can be found in the Regular events section.

Cloakroom

The cloakroom is in the entrance lobby of the museum and is free of charge for all visitors. We kindly ask you to return the cloakroom chip to the cash desk at the end of your visit.

Please note that we cannot assume liability for items in the cloakroom area.

Image, Film and Audio Recordings

Photography for private purposes is permitted in the Gutenberg Museum. Flash photography and the use of tripods, selfie sticks, drones or similar aids are not allowed.

Photography and filming for commercial purposes or as part of daily news coverage requires prior agreement and written permission from the museum management. For this purpose, please download the attached form, fill it out and send it to our Press Office at presse.gmstadt.mainzde

In the interest of all, we ask you not to disturb or obstruct other visitors when taking photographs and to respect their rights to the image when publishing them.
