Participation
However, the plan is not just about solving functional and design issues and identifying options for the future development of the city center. The planning process also places great importance on the active participation of key players in city center development and large sections of the Mainz population.
The aim is to jointly identify key areas of action for inner city development, promote awareness, work together on the future development, profiling, and design of Mainz's inner city, and formulate future projects and measures. The aim is to arouse interest, highlight potentially surprising options for action, initiate activities, and promote civic engagement. This requires the close interweaving of planning/conceptual work and the establishment of an intensive dialogue with Mainz's urban society.
As part of structuring the process, various event formats tailored to the respective target groups are being designed to encourage active participation and involvement in the planning. Workshops will be held to involve key players from politics, specialist planning, and associations and federations in the discussion. The forums are planned as public events in which the citizens of the state capital Mainz will have the opportunity to contribute their suggestions, ideas, and concepts to the process.
