A 'grown' piece of local history

At the beginning of the 19th century, Hechtsheim was still a modest village with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. Since then, the district, which was incorporated in 1969, has grown continuously. The range of funeral services has developed accordingly. A new cemetery was first built adjacent to the old one and has since been expanded three times. Fortunately, there was and still is enough space. In terms of area, Hechtsheim is the largest district of Mainz.
