Environmental protection
Sustainability is part of our DNA—at Mainz Economic Development, we think, act, and plan sustainably.
We have been demonstrating this regularly for many years – at the highest national and international level.
EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme)
EMAS, the European Union's environmental management system, is one of the world's most demanding certifications and goes far beyond international standards. Through annual certification procedures carried out by independent auditors and in our annual environmental statement, we demonstrate how consistently, efficiently, and innovatively we use resources, energy, and environmentally friendly technologies.

Ökoprofit Mainz
Ökoprofit is an environmental prevention program that aims to reduce operating costs while also protecting the environment. In 2001, the Mainz Central Wastewater Treatment Plant successfully participated in the project run by the city of Mainz for the first time, and other branches of the company followed suit, making the municipal utility one of Mainz's long-standing "Ökoprofit companies."
