Unloved "neighbors"

Some people consider them to be particularly intelligent and social animals. Others simply find them disgusting: rats! But regardless of how you feel about these rodents, they are among us. Estimates suggest that in cities such as Mainz, there is a ratio of up to one rat per person.

These nimble little creatures feel particularly at home in the sewer system, where they are largely undisturbed. We are also responsible for keeping their population under control there. But only there.
