It will be increased

Starting in summer 2025, Mainz's public utility company will build a new flood protection wall (blue line in the image) at the height of the railway bridge. For the new section, piles will first be driven into the ground over a total length of around 120 meters. These will serve as the foundation for the future flood protection wall, which will then have to withstand the necessary pressure in an emergency.
If everything goes according to plan and the weather cooperates, the work will be completed by the end of the year.

Work is expected to continue in the Mainz-Mitte area in 2026.
