From May 8 - new special exhibition: FLORA. When miracles grow from roots.
The multimedia exhibition FLORA explores the complex relationship between humans, health, and nature. It takes as its starting point the early German-language herbal "Gart der Gesundheit," which was written in Mainz in 1485. From there, the exhibition traces a path from historical knowledge of medicinal plants to contemporary perspectives on the effects of plants and ecological challenges.
The exhibition was curated by students from Mainz University of Applied Sciences. It was developed through an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Gutenberg Museum and the Natural History Museum.
Interactive, artistic, and sensory stations offer visitors diverse approaches to the themes. Through the interplay of digital formats with books and herbariums, historical knowledge, scientific findings, and current issues regarding climate change and declining biodiversity are interwoven.

A first look at the new Gutenberg Museum: Presentation of the scenography concept
A new milestone on the road to the future Gutenberg Museum has been reached: the scenography concept for the new building has been presented—and it leaves us wanting more. The design concept, developed by the Cologne-based agency "facts and fiction," combines the building's unique architecture with a lively, interactive museum world. Folded wall structures, immersive spatial experiences, and a variety of interactive stations will bring Gutenberg's story to life in surprising and playful ways. During the presentation of the concept on November 12, 2025, at a press conference and again at the public information event on November 18, 2025, it became clear how clearly the vision for the new museum is taking shape: a modern place that combines tradition and innovation. This marks another step toward the future of the Gutenberg Museum.
