LGBTIQ history

Call for the collection of objects for an exhibition on the LGBTIQ history of the state capital Mainz.

We love the way we live.

For several years now, the Mainz City Archives have been systematically collecting written sources and visual documents on the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer people (LGBTIQ) in Mainz. Based on these sources, the aim is now to work with the Coordination Office for

Equality for LGBTIQ people in the state capital of Mainz, the City History Museum, and the House of Remembrance – for democracy and acceptance, an exhibition on LGBTIQ history in Mainz is being developed. Our aim is to bring people with an LGBTIQ background out of historical invisibility and into the center of society.

In order to realize this exhibition project, we are now looking for clothing, photographs,
films, and other everyday objects in addition to the documents already available in paper form. If you are in possession of such objects, we would be very grateful if you would donate or loan them to the City History Museum!
