Tutorial old fonts
Tutorial on paleography
In our video tutorial, we provide concise guidance on reading old scripts. Our archivist Silas Berlit and our colleague Jonas Burkei give a brief and concise explanation of the development of handwriting from the Middle Ages to the 20th century and explain how you can learn to read old scripts yourself. Armed with paper and pen, you can even make your own transcriptions. Take a look and join in. Have fun!
We also offer paleography courses at the city archives. Keep an eye out for our announcements.
