The aim of the alliance "Nix in den (Mainzer) Sand setzen" (Don't let it go to waste in Mainz) is to provide effective noise protection for residents and those seeking local recreation, to preserve the unique natural environment, and to achieve significant cost savings in the reconstruction of the A 643 motorway between Mombach and Gonsenheim. The state capital of Mainz is a member of the alliance.

In fall 2014, the Climate Protection Advisory Board also established a transport expert group. Its work is additionally supported and accompanied by the Energy Agency and Mainz City Council.

The aim of the local agenda is to develop concrete measures for a sustainable city, including in the area of mobility, in a long-term, open process involving the city administration, politicians, the population, local organizations, and the business community.

The VDC district association of Rheinhessen is committed to transforming transport in Rheinhessen: its goals are a well-developed public transport system, infrastructure that is friendly to pedestrians and cyclists, and a significant reduction in traffic noise. Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Mainz Environmental Information Center, Dominikanerstraße 2. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The ADFC Mainz-Bingen district association is the lobby for cycling. In addition to offering a diverse range of leisure tours, it promotes the interests of cycling in the Mainz, Bingen, and Bad Kreuznach areas in close cooperation with local politicians.

Since 2021, MainzZero has been giving Mainz residents the opportunity to support the city of Mainz in becoming climate neutral in the near future through concrete measures. MainzZero has already developed specific transportation proposals and presented a concept entitled "Transportation reform now! – Building blocks for a Mainz mobility concept."

Going for a walk and making new friends—while protecting the environment. That's the essence of the nationwide "Girls Talking & Walking" events, which also take place in Mainz. The dates are always published on Instagram at the beginning of each month. Every woman is invited to join the walk, regardless of language or origin, whether shy or extroverted.

The passenger association Pro Bahn e. V. (PB), together with its regional association in Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland, represents the interests of passengers using long-distance and local public transport as an independent, non-profit consumer association within the Federation of German Consumer Organizations. The Rheinhessen regional group discusses regional and supraregional public transport issues (including Hesse/Aartalbahn).
