CITY CYCLING 2026

In 2026, the state capital of Mainz is once again taking part in the Germany-wide CITY CYCLING competition to pedal for climate protection. STADTRADELN will take place in 2026 from May 30 to June 19.

Cycling, not just for climate protection

For the 15th time, as part of the CITY CYCLING campaign, members of the city council and local advisory boards, as well as citizens, are invited to collect as many kilometers as possible by bike, both privately and professionally, over a period of three weeks.

This not only benefits your health, the environment, and urban traffic: the most committed communities will receive a nationwide award and high-quality prizes.

Anyone can take part!

Anyone who lives, works, belongs to a club, or attends a school or university in the state capital of Mainz can take part in CITY CYCLING. Every kilometer counts—the journey to the office or university is just as important as the trip to the bakery, the Rhine, the hairdresser, or the daycare center. Do you use a wheelchair or a handcycle? Join in, rolling and cycling for Mainz!

With the "RADar!" reporting platform, you can alert the city of Mainz to disruptive and dangerous spots on the bike path and thus directly contribute to the cycling infrastructure.

Help make Mainz attractive for the future and show how many cyclists already support this goal today.

Kick-off event May 30, 2026

Mainz is kicking off this year's CITY CYCLING campaign with a varied program of events. Look forward to a sparkling start with the mobile bike wash, exciting insights into the mobile bike museum, activities at the circus mobile, and helpful information on road safety at the police safety mobile. Numerous information stands will also offer interesting facts about cycling and sustainable mobility.

A special highlight: the ADFC invites you to a guided bike tour through Mainz starting at 10:30 a.m. The tour starts and ends on the banks of the Rhine at the Theodor Heuss Bridge and lasts approximately 1.5 hours. It's the ideal way to kick off the campaign together and experience the city from a new perspective.

Come by, bring your bike, and join us in setting an example for climate protection, exercise, and quality of life in Mainz. Every kilometer counts!
