More and more people, regardless of their age, long for a self-determined and independent life in a communal environment. In particular, there is a growing desire for alternative, intergenerational forms of housing and living. Communal living not only offers the opportunity to live within your own four walls, but also to actively participate in a supportive neighborhood.

The Rhineland-Palatinate State Advisory Center for New Living promotes this development by offering comprehensive expert advice on communal living concepts: from housing projects based on solidarity and mutual support to rural concepts and networked urban and rural neighborhoods. In addition, innovative forms of financing are presented that make it possible to realize communal living.

Since 1995, the State Advisory Center for Barrier-Free Building and Living has been providing advice on all aspects of barrier-free building and living, as well as on improving living space through conversion and modernization, with an experienced team of architects in the state capital of Mainz and throughout Rhineland-Palatinate. It is sponsored by the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center and cooperates with the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects. The advice is free of charge and provider-neutral. In addition to individual consultation, the state advice center provides information on all aspects of accessibility throughout the state in lectures, webinars, and information events.
The advisory services are funded by the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Transformation, and Digitalization of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Advice on aids and home adaptations is available from care support centers and the State Advisory Office for Barrier-Free Building and Living, which is based at the Consumer Advice Center.
