Mainz shares

Sharing is the new having! Anyone who wants to lend out everyday objects and has always wondered whether they have to "have" everything themselves can take part in "Mainz teilt". Simply use the materials (posters, flyers, sticker sheets) from the environmental store to let your neighbors know which items you have at home and would like to share.

In cooperation with the Mainz and Mainz-Bingen Municipal Waste Management Authority, the City of Mainz, through its Agenda Office, is launching the “Mainz Shares!” campaign

Anyone who wants to lend out everyday items or has always wondered whether you really have to “own” everything yourself is welcome to join.

Buy a drill just for a single hole in the wall? Do I really need my own camping gear for a short trip with friends to the lake? Maybe I don’t even like camping… That’s why borrowing or sharing is a sensible alternative. Maybe your neighbors have exactly what you need and would be happy to share it.

The principle is very simple

The environmental shop on Steingasse has sticker sheets, flyers, and posters. By displaying these materials in the building’s hallway, you can raise awareness about the initiative among neighbors, and people can stick the stickers on their own mailboxes. The stickers show what items you have at home and would like to share. Your neighbors can do the same.

By the way, there are also extra stickers you can write on yourself.

Why share?

Production, transportation, and disposal generally generate large amounts of waste. And when, for example, an electronic device is used only once, it results in a lot of waste for very little benefit. This is exactly where “Mainz teilt” comes in.
