LGBTIQ acceptance campaign

A campaign to promote the acceptance of gender, sexual and family diversity is being carried out by the state capital Mainz.

An important focus of the work of the municipal coordination office for LGBTIQ equality is promoting acceptance of gender, sexual, and family diversity and combating discrimination.

Back in 2015, a call was made for acceptance of LGBTIQ lifestyles with the slogan "We love how we live – together we are Mainz."

One focus was a poster campaign promoting acceptance of gender, sexual, and family diversity. Under the slogan "I love how I live – Mainz is as colorful as life itself," posters featuring queer Mainz residents can be seen on advertising columns throughout the city.

Two years later, in 2017, a rainbow tram was put on the tracks. The rainbow tram is a continuation of the campaign for the acceptance of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, intersex people, queer people, and rainbow families. With the rainbow tram, the participating associations and initiatives from the LGBTIQ community, the Mainz transport company, and the state capital of Mainz have raised awareness of the issue of tolerance and acceptance of queer lifestyles and expressed that gender, sexual, and family diversity exist as a matter of course in the environment of all residents.
