What proposals can be submitted? The following criteria serve as a basis and guide and can be presented as part of the application, if applicable:

• Exemplary sports activities, e.g., in the areas of integration, prevention, equality, family and intergenerational offerings
• Exceptional sporting and social offers and achievements (e.g., international exchanges, Fair Play Cup, team-building measures, hosting national and international championships, tournaments with a nationwide character)
• Sports cooperation between the club and other institutions (e.g., with associations, schools, or kindergartens)
• Promotion of volunteer work
• Structural initiatives
• Initiative in new trend sports
• Innovative concepts

Applications can be submitted informally (including by video), stating the respective institution and contact person with the necessary contact details (address, telephone number, and email address).

Please note: Projects that have already been submitted and awarded prizes in the last eight years cannot be resubmitted.

Prizes Prizes
totaling €5,750 will be awarded. A jury will decide on the awarding and endowment of the individual prizes.

Eligibility, application procedure, and deadline

All clubs from Mainz registered with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Federation, all state schools in Mainz, and other groups active in recreational sports that can prove they have been practicing their sport in Mainz for a longer period of time are eligible to participate in this competition.

In addition, anyone interested in sports can submit club offers/projects and other activities that meet one of the above criteria to the address below. The sports department of the state capital of Mainz will then contact the relevant institution regarding an official application.

A jury will evaluate the documents and decide on the awarding and endowment of the individual prizes. The jury is composed of representatives from HDI Global SE, the Mainz City Sports Association, 1. FSV Mainz 05, the state capital of Mainz, and the Mainz sports press. In addition, a top athlete from Mainz will be invited to the jury meeting.

The winners of the Mainz Sports Award will be notified in writing.

The award ceremony will take place in a setting that attracts as much publicity as possible.
