On December 22, 2012, a statute was enacted in the district of Bretzenheim that primarily aims to preserve the brick houses in the town center.

The urban landscape of Bretzenheim is characterized by numerous modern residential areas with an urban character, which occupy a large part of the district. Only the old town center has retained its village character, providing a charming contrast to the new housing developments.

The appearance of this historic town center with its numerous brick buildings is to be preserved and enhanced by these statutes. In the past, renovation and modernization measures (particularly with regard to thermal insulation) have significantly altered the external appearance of some historic brick buildings, thereby detracting from the overall impression of the town center.

The "B 155 S" statute imposes special design requirements on buildings and advertising structures in order to protect the existing brick facades and also to enhance the other facades in the townscape. In the long term, buildings whose historical character and appearance have been compromised should also be restored to their original condition as far as possible during conversion and renovation work.

The requirements are intended to ensure a harmonious design, which in the long term will lead to a significant improvement in the quality of the residential environment and thus also to an increase in the value of the individual properties.
