Advisory Board for Migration and Integration

Welcome to the homepage of the Advisory Council for Migration and Integration Mainz. In 2009, the Advisory Council for Migration and Integration replaced the Foreigners' Advisory Council, which was first elected in 1987. The Advisory Council is the democratically elected representative body for residents with a migration background in a municipality and is elected for a term of five years.

Task of the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration

The task of the Advisory Council for Migration and Integration is to promote and ensure equal coexistence among people of different nationalities, cultures, and religions living in the municipality, as well as to further develop the municipal integration process. It formulates the concerns of migrants in Mainz and represents them to the city council, the administration, and the public. The Advisory Council for Migration and Integration can have a say in local political decisions concerning migration and integration and influence these decisions. It is thus an important step towards political and social participation.

Organization

The members of the Advisory Council for Migration and Integration determine the topics of their deliberations themselves. They elect a chairperson and deputies from among their ranks. The Advisory Council has its own office in the Office for Migration and Integration.
