Arnis describes a Filipino martial arts system that was originally passed down within families in the Philippines. The terms Kali and Eskrima also belong to this martial arts family. In contrast to the more famous Japanese martial arts, lessons begin with holding a stick in your hand from the very first hour. At the beginning, this is actually a blunt weapon in the narrower sense, with which we familiarize ourselves, learn to hide behind it... and very soon also to take away the other person's weapon.
