The filming permit is issued by the Press Office of the Main Administration Office. It coordinates with the various relevant departments within the Mainz city administration. You can download the corresponding form as a PDF file at the bottom of the page. To film on private property, you must obtain the consent of the respective property owners.

Please note that for filming with drones, a separate flight permit must be applied for from USAG Wiesbaden, and an operating/exemption permit for unmanned aerial vehicles must be obtained from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Mobility Agency. Under “Forms, Information Sheets, and Links,” you will find links to the USAG Wiesbaden and Rhineland-Palatinate State Mobility Agency websites, where the relevant forms are available.

Depending on the scope of your filming project—for example, if it involves planned traffic disruptions, filming during off-peak hours, on green spaces, or in the busy downtown area—it may take some time to obtain approval. For this reason, you should submit the enclosed application form to pressestellestadt.mainzde at least two weeks before your shoot, if possible.
