Encourage honoring citizens

The Lord Mayor recognizes special activities for the benefit of the state capital and its citizens with awards. These awards are a sign of appreciation for exemplary commitment.

What do I need to know?

Service description

As a citizen of the state capital Mainz, you can nominate other citizens for awards. Self-nominations are not permitted. Please send your nomination in writing to the mayor or the protocol department.

It is not necessary to specify a particular honor. It is sufficient to suggest a municipal honor in general terms. The Protocol Department will review your suggestion and inform you of the result.

Legal basis

The municipality's right of self-government, determination by the mayor; honorary citizenship is governed by Section 23 of the Municipal Code for Rhineland-Palatinate.

Deadlines

Processing usually takes several months.
