Some cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate offer special transport services. The transport service for people with disabilities is designed to make it easier for people with temporary or permanent disabilities to participate in social life and make their everyday lives as pleasant as possible.
How does this work in practice?
- Transportation is valid within the city limits of Mainz, the former suburbs on the right bank of the Rhine, and the city of Wiesbaden.
- Journeys beyond these areas are billed separately by the transport service from the city limits. The state capital of Mainz does not cover these costs.
- The Mainz city administration provides eligible persons with vouchers for 14 trips per quarter. You can use these vouchers as you wish within that quarter. The vouchers are not transferable to third parties.
- You must pay a co-payment of €3 for each voucher used.
- Further details on the procedure can be found in the attached information sheet "Transport service for people with disabilities, information sheet," which you can download at the bottom of this page.
Which trips are excluded?
Trips to doctors, clinics, workplaces, or schools are excluded from transportation, as other cost bearers are responsible for these.
What do you need to do?
You inform us that you would like to use the transport service. We do not require a formal application.
You can call us or send us an email.
Recommendation: Use our online service.
What do we have to do?
- We will check whether the requirements are met.
- If approved, we will send you a notification and the pro-rata vouchers for the current quarter.
- We will then send you 14 vouchers for each full quarter.
Voluntary service by the state capital of Mainz
When you submit your application, you will receive the vouchers pro rata for that quarter. From the following quarter onwards, we will send you 14 vouchers on a regular basis. You can use them within the respective quarter. Unused vouchers cannot be carried over to the next quarter.
