Large lawns and mighty trees invite visitors to linger and relax. To the east, visitors to the city park have a good view of the Main River flowing into the Rhine. It is exciting to watch the maneuvers of the Rhine freighters as they change rivers.
In summer, visitors are greeted at the north entrance by Mainz's coat of arms, planted in flowers. The city park is considered an important recreational area on the edge of the old town. In contrast to the public park directly behind it, the city park is deliberately not intended as a zone for a variety of leisure activities, but rather as a place for rest and relaxation amid lawns and large trees.
The Mainz Wine Market takes place in the city park on the last weekend in August and the first weekend in September. Everyone involved in producing, selling, or simply enjoying wine gathers in the park. Wine and sparkling wine stands invite you to linger in the romantic and beautiful atmosphere of the landscape park. You can enjoy regional wine under old trees.
