For over 50 years, the Institut Français, located directly on Schillerplatz and serving as a branch of the French Embassy in Germany, has been promoting cultural and linguistic exchange. Exhibitions, lectures, readings, film screenings, and concerts in German and French take place in the magnificent salon of the Schönborn Court.

In addition, the Institut Français offers language courses for all levels and age groups (private individuals, companies, individual and group lessons) – all taught by native speakers.

The media library, which contains more than 12,000 items, includes French-language books, daily newspapers, magazines, CDs, and DVDs. Under one roof with the CinéMayence cinema, the institute thus acts as a platform for French language and culture in the heart of Mainz.
