SchUM sites - Germany's first Jewish UNESCO World Heritage Site
Since the High Middle Ages, the three Jewish centers on the Rhine, Speyer, Worms and Mainz, have been known under the abbreviation "SchUM". The SchUM sites were declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO committee in 2021. They are the first Jewish World Heritage Site in Germany. The central UNESCO monument in Mainz is the old Jewish cemetery, the Judensand.
