The growing enthusiasm for cycling poses a problem, especially for Mainz residents who live or work in the city center: they cannot find suitable places to park their bikes at home or at work. The bicycle storage rooms in the attractive Wilhelminian-style residential areas are often low and damp, and are usually only accessible via narrow and steep stairs, or do not exist at all. Even the backyards often offer little space, and it is difficult to park bikes safely and protect them from the weather. As a result, many people have no choice but to carry their bikes into their own apartments or leave them completely unprotected outside their doors.

The Foundation for Climate Protection and MVGmeinRad, in cooperation with the city of Mainz, now offer the ideal solution: the Mainz bicycle pavilion. It has space for a total of 12 bicycles and requires less than 4 m² of floor space. The bikes stored inside are protected from the weather and safe from theft and vandalism. Equipped with a gas pressure spring, it is easy to hang up your bike, even pedelecs. In addition, the twisted steel construction is robust and blends in nicely with the cityscape.

The first bicycle pavilion, developed specifically for Mainz, is located on Hindenburgplatz and is clearly visible from all sides. For €10 per month, you can get individual access to the pavilion with your own transponder. Additional security is provided by the option of locking your bicycle to the rack.
