Mainz and Rheinhessen, as part of the Rhine-Main region, are among the most dynamic economic regions in Central Europe. They have particular expertise in the fields of media—Europe's largest broadcaster, ZDF, is based in Mainz—high technology, healthcare, services, and trade. Major companies such as Siemens, Schott Glas, and Nestlé in Mainz, as well as the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim in Rheinhessen, shape economic life, as do active small and medium-sized enterprises. Viticulture, agriculture, and tourism are also particularly important.

The Mainz│Rheinhessen business location benefits from its proximity to Frankfurt Airport and an excellently developed rail, water, and road network. Researchers, developers, and over 40,000 students from all over the world teach, learn, and work at Johannes Gutenberg University and the various colleges in Mainz. The city has also made a name for itself as a venue for congresses and conferences thanks to its modern Congress Center. Income and unemployment statistics

regularly attest to the region's prosperous economy. Mainz and Rheinhessen are well above the German average in terms of income and well below the average in terms of unemployment.

Rheinhessen Marketing coordinates activities related to Rheinhessen as a location and the identity of the region, manages activities related to the "Rheinhessen" umbrella brand, and is preparing activities for the Rheinhessen anniversary in 2016.

Business Services Network

The various wine marketing and wine industry institutions in the Great Wine Capitals have joined forces to form the Business Services Network, a central point of contact. Here, commercial, industrial, and service companies in the member cities can benefit from a range of services within the global network of wine capitals.

The aim of the service is to support companies during their business trips abroad and to assist them with business contacts and logistics. If necessary, however, support begins in the home region when it comes to establishing the right contacts in the respective target markets.

Companies from member cities can use the Business Services Network free of charge if they want to tap into international markets and further develop their business relationships in other member regions.

The network can advise you on the following aspects in the partner countries:

  • Production agreements
  • Trade agreements (import/export)
  • Licensing agreements
  • Representation agreements
  • Financial agreements
  • Joint ventures
  • Supply agreements
  • Franchising
  • Technology and knowledge transfer
  • Provision of services (consulting, marketing, IT, administration, etc.)
