There was already a carnival guard in Finthen in 1891. The FCV cultivates the carnival tradition in the shadow of Mainz, the carnival stronghold. Every year since 1953, the "Zug der Finther Lebensfreude" (Finthen Joy of Life Parade) has taken place, which today attracts up to 40,000 visitors. In addition to carnival events in the Finthen community center, the traditional FCV summer festival takes place on the Jungenfeldplatz in August.
