The state blindness allowance serves to compensate for additional expenses incurred as a result of disability. It is a voluntary benefit provided by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is generally independent of income and assets. However, certain social benefits take precedence.

Are you already receiving state blindness allowance?

If you already receive benefits under the State Blindness Allowance Act and would like to fill out the annual questionnaire, you can download it at the bottom of the page.

In the case of higher blindness-related additional expenses, benefits from income- and asset-dependent blindness assistance can be applied for in addition to the state blindness allowance (see also Blindness assistance ).

For war blind persons, the provisions of the BVG apply.

We grant benefits from the month in which the application is submitted, provided that the requirements are met.

The processing time varies greatly and cannot be determined in advance.
