Driver's licenses issued on or after January 19, 2013, are valid for 15 years.

If your driver's license is about to expire or has already expired, you must apply for a new one unless you wish to relinquish your driving privileges.

However, the time limit only applies to the driver's license document, not to the underlying driving license.

• You are resident in Germany.
• You must be the holder of a temporary driver's license issued on or after January 19, 2013.

Please remember to apply for your driver's license in good time before it expires.

The competent authority in Rhineland-Palatinate is the district administration, and in large district or independent cities, the city administration.
