Construction work has begun on a new high school in Mainz-Mombach. The four-stream high school, which already started in September 2023 in a temporary building on Lerchenberg, is a "school with a special inclusive profile" and a shared learning environment for students with and without disabilities.
The high school will be located in Mombach "Am Lemmchen," together with the schools already located there (elementary school and secondary school). These, as well as a cafeteria and two sports halls, will be rebuilt after the high school is completed, creating a modern school location for all age groups.
The high school moved into the modular building at the "Am Lemmchen" location shortly before the 2024 summer holidays. School operations began there on the first day of the 2024/25 school year. The cafeteria has been in operation since the beginning of April 2024 and is now used by both elementary and high school students.

• On March 20, 2024, a site visit was held for interested citizens and residents. A total of approximately 200 people took part in the three tours. The minutes of the event can be found at the bottom of this page in the download area.

Mainz-Mombach

• On September 4, 2023, the new high school with a special inclusive profile started the new school year at its temporary location in Lerchenberg.
• The grammar school moved from Mainz-Lerchenberg to Mainz-Mombach in mid-July 2024. School operations began on August 26, 2024, in the modular school.
• The high school is scheduled to be completed and ready for use by the 2027/28 school year. Subsequently, the elementary school and the Realschule Plus, as well as the cafeteria and sports halls, will be newly built.

131 million euros according to cost estimate as of December 2022

The civil engineering work has been completed and the temporary building for the new high school is about to be handed over for use. Some remaining work is still being carried out. Classes at the elementary and secondary school are continuing as planned. The cafeteria is also in operation and provides meals for the students.
