Construction has begun on a new high school in Mainz-Mombach. The four-track high school, which opened in September 2023 in a temporary building on Lerchenberg, is designed as a “school with a special inclusive profile” and serves as a shared learning environment for students with and without disabilities.
The high school’s future location will be in Mombach at “Am Lemmchen,” alongside the schools already located there today (the elementary school and the Realschule Plus). These, along with a cafeteria and a sports hall with six courts, will be newly constructed after the high school’s completion, creating a modern school campus for all age groups.
The high school moved into the modular building at the “Am Lemmchen” site shortly before the summer break in 2024. Classes began there on the first day of the 2024–25 school year. The cafeteria has been in operation since early April 2024 and is used by the high school students.

Mainz-Mombach

• On September 4, 2023, the new high school, with its unique inclusive focus, began the new school year at its temporary location in Lerchenberg.
• The high school’s move from Mainz-Lerchenberg to Mainz-Mombach took place in mid-July 2024. Classes began on August 26, 2024, at the modular school.
• Due to an objection to the building permit, construction could not begin as planned in the summer of 2025. The objection was rejected in December 2025.
• The high school is scheduled to be completed and ready for use by the 2029–30 school year. Subsequently, the elementary school, the Realschule Plus, the cafeteria, and the gyms will be newly constructed.
