Democracy Road leads through Mainz
At the 2007 Future Conference in Hambach Castle, eleven cities, two memorial sites and the state centers for political education in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate gave the go-ahead for another themed street in Germany. There are six stations on the "Road to Democracy" in Mainz.
Journey from the French Revolution to the present day
The Road to Democracy follows in the footsteps of the freedom movement from Frankfurt via Mainz to Lörrach. On a journey past buildings, museums, squares, and other places of remembrance in the southwest, interested visitors can learn about the shared liberal democratic traditions. The following six stops on the
themed route are located in Mainz:
German house
Dalberger Hof
State Theater
Frankfurter Hof
Iron tower
Main cemetery
Travel guides and the Internet provide information
Further information about all the locations along the theme route can be found in the richly illustrated travel guide "Straße der Demokratie – Revolution, Verfassung und Recht" (Road to Democracy – Revolution, Constitution, and Law). It was compiled by experts from the participating institutions and cities, published by Info Verlag Karlsruhe, and is available in bookstores for a symbolic price of €18.48.
